Wood Design Centre

The Wood Design Centre (WDC) was established in 1985, and is managed by the Victorian Woodworkers Association (VWA). Since then it has fostered the creative careers of numerous well known furniture designers, makers and artists.

The WDC is located at the Meatmarket Arts Centre, 5 Tyrone St, North Melbourne, Victoria and comprises 650 sq m of workshop, office space, meeting rooms and library. The workshop has its own spray facility, well equipped machine room, and workbenches.

With the help of Arts Victoria, the WDC provides affordable 24hour access to these facilities and equipment for the emergent designer and maker, where the opportunity exists to work alongside established professionals. Casual access to the workshop is also available to general VWA members.

The WDC currently accommodates a talented group of independent furniture designers and makers, who offer their clients a full design and manufacturing service, producing prestigious commissions and small batch production of the highest quality.

For all enquiries, including information on full-time and part-time spaces in the workshop and casual use of machines and spray booth, contact the WDC Manager, Adam Stewart, on: Tel/Fax 03 9326 8553.
