IMPORTANT DATES – LIVING WITH WOOD 2006

Closing date for entry: Monday 2 October

  1. Delivery of entries: Wednesday 18 October 9.00am – 6.00pm
    Deliver to The Melbourne Exhibition Centre
    2 Clarendon Street, Southbank
    Entry via Normanby Rd, Melways 1C B6
  2. Exhibition dates: Friday 20 ­ Sunday 22 October
  3. Opening ceremony: Friday 20 October
  4. Collection of exhibits: Sunday 22 October after the closing of
    the exhibition at 6.00pm
  5. Photography: Exhibitors are encouraged to photograph the process of the making
    of their piece for publication
  6. Applications: Please complete the separate ENTRY FORM for each exhibit and

GUIDELINES

  • Presented as the centrepiece of the TIMBER AND WORKING WITH WOOD SHOW' Melbourne Exhibition Centre, 2 Clarendon Street Southbank Melbourne Friday 20 th – Sunday 22 nd October 2006
  • LIVING WITH WOOD 2006 is a high profile industry showcase for the fine woodwork design and craftsmanship. The exhibition is a partnership between the Victorian Woodworkers Association and DMG in the Timber and Working with Wood Show.
  • LIVING WITH WOOD is to be held in conjunction with the Create With a Crate Exhibition at the same venue. (For entries to CREATE WITH A CRATE refer separate forms)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • All entries will be considered for the Awards
  • Entries must be for sale and have their price listed on the Entry Form including GST (if applicable)
  • A 25% commission will be payable by the entrant to the VWA for any exhibits sold during the Show. If entries are not for sale a $25 fee is payable to VWA with the Entry Form
  • Late entries will not be excepted
  • VWA reserves the right to photograph exhibits for promotional purposes and to publish or display these with the appropriate credit provided
  • VWA reserves the right to exclude entries from the Exhibition and Award if they do not
    • Meet the Criteria
    • Cannot be accommodated within the exhibition stand due to size constraints will be subject to a selection process
    • Have an incomplete Entry Form or unpaid fee
  • VWA reserves the right to display and light the entries at its own discretion and the benefit of the entire exhibition
  • VWA will convene a jury of peers and industry representatives to judge the Awards. Judging will occur on Thursday 19 October after 12.00pm. The judges' decisions will be final and there will be no discussion.
  • Delivery and collection of the pieces is the responsibility and at the cost of the exhibitor
ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Open to all woodworkers, amateur to professional
  • Open to members of VWA and non-members
  • Create a piece of the highest possible exhibition standard be it furniture, an artwork, a musical instrument or a small object
  • Small scale pieces – maximum of three – for display on plinth, shelf or wall mounted such as turned or carved objects, boxes, musical instruments, marquetry, free standing pieces such as a side table or chair
  • Large scale pieces – maximum of one - freestanding for floor display such as monumental sculpture, sets of drawers, cabinets and furniture settings
  • The entry must relate to the overall objectives and values of VWA
  • The entry is the maker's own original work
  • Entries have been made in the last 12 months
  • Entries must be primarily woodwork with other materials being secondary
  • The Entry Form is completed in full and received by VWA by close of entries

INSURANCE
Every care will be taken by the VWA but no responsibility can be accepted for damage, loss or theft of an exhibit. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to arrange insurance cover

PUBLICITY AND DOCUMENTATION

Exhibitors are encouraged to provide high quality images of their entries in either tiff or jpeg format of 300dpi on CD or as an email attachment for inclusion in the marketing promotions and media releases. The VWA is not able to offer a separate photography service for exhibitors due the exhibition constraints
